"Fe Fi Fo Fum

I smell the blood of an Englishman

Be he live or be he dead

I'll grind his bones to make my bread."

John Bosley made his first public appearance at the tender age of 16 having been coerced into doing a couple of songs at a variety event by his late father. No-one threw anything, and encouraged by that was soon playing with a pub band performing mainly sing along traditional songs.

An offer came from a more established Norfolk based band, and five years on fun ensued.

Music then took a bit of a back seat as life went on, but that didn't last, and John put a new band together with playing both songs and ceilidhs. ‘Clutching at Straws’ eventually developed into just a ceilidh band.

Wanting to sing, John along with Kevin, the bass player from Clutching at Straws, put together ‘The Bounty Hounds’ folk rock band, mainly motivated by the desire to grow old disgracefully! The Bounty Hounds enjoyed great success, playing Folk festivals and other events from as far afield as North Yorkshire, the West country, and all points between. After 20 years we decided it was time to call it a day,

John is really excited to now be part of ‘Giant's Bread’ and looking forward to working with some fantastic musicians.

Jane.PNG

Jane Reeves  is a singer-songwriter based in Suffolk with a lifelong passion for music. She began playing the recorder at an early age before moving on to the flute, performing in orchestras throughout her youth. Today, Jane focuses on traditional music and also plays traditional wind instruments and violin.

An avid folk music enthusiast, she enjoys singing at clubs and festivals, both solo and alongside her husband Peter in their folk duo, Peter and Jane (peterandjane.co.uk). Together, they blend rich harmonies and intricate instrumentation, sharing their love of traditional and contemporary folk music with audiences far and wide. Jane also leads a folk choir once a month, in the town of Eye, Suffolk, in support of theblossomcharity.co.uk

Moose Rosser has no idea how he sings like he does - certainly, his time as a boy soprano in a church choir gave no hint of what was to come. He encountered folk music when he joined Chingford Morris in the 1970s, along with whom he often found himself in the company of the great and the good of the folk world; he later added a love of heavy rock to the mix.

Some 20 or so years ago  he started singing bass harmony with Capstan Full Strength, an exceptional shanty band, and was later invited to join Sound Tradition (www.soundtradition.co.uk), an acapella foursome with whom he still regularly sings.

Martin Gibson started out as a rock drummer and soon found himself in far too many bands to mention over the years playing just about every genre.  He is a big fan of progressive music and enjoys different arrangements achieved from what is sometimes a deceptively simple musical idea.  He loves to mix and match unexpected styles of drumming and percussion to the original songs he collaborates on, both in studios and on stage.

For the last eight years he has been performing folk-rock at festivals all over the UK with ‘The Bounty Hounds’.  This has recently come to a natural end, but as one door has closed another has opened in the shape of ‘Giants Bread’.

Chris Bullen is a music producer, composer and musician. He has been playing lead guitar and bass in various rock, pop and folk bands since the age of 14.

In recent years, he has been a member of the rock bands Strike School and Flight whilst also performing with folks bands : Marina Florance, Two Coats Colder, Cardinal Green and the Doghouse Collective.

Peter.jpg

Peter Reeves has been a musician most of his life, playing guitar in bands since the 90’s. Peter has a large collection of instruments, many of which find their way onto stage including guitar, banjo, whistles, bodhran and bagpipes. He plays pipes at weddings and funerals, and also with pipe bands (glenmoristonpipeband.co.uk). On stage he prefers smallpipes, harmonising with Jane’s flute in their folk duo Peter and Jane (peterandjane.co.uk). He writes new music with his wife Jane and has produced several albums with her in their home studio.

He loves to play clawhammer banjo and sing old-time bluegrass music, Irish session tunes on his whistle, and just about anything on guitar. To relax, he likes a bottle of red wine and sitting at the piano with a copy of the Real Book.
